That top picture makes it look like a hyena and the bottom pictures kinda make it look foxish; strange creature.

I got to see on in person at the houston zoo but it was pacing at the time. I think their were two but the other was relaxing in the den at the time. They had lots of stuff in there for them but I'm sure they're like real wolves and get bored easy and need to excersize those legs. I had video but it was before a comp crash. I did take film pics of some animals but don't know if it was one or not.

I think they are cool looking. My Question is why is it not considered a technical "canid" why is it a "Chrysocyon" instead? That doesn't make snse to me...it looks like a canid and it has canid characteristics so why not? Man naming of species confuses me.

Oh geez, am I getting a headache.

Canis falls in the wolves speices, most not all. Vulpes is foxes. Canine is dogs.

Not all speices have the orginal scientific name in them; there are plenty of foxes that don't have the word vulpes in their name and plenty of wolves who don't have canis in their name.

Ex. Arctic fox does not have vulpes in it's name, it's simply Alopex lagopus

hmm well I was to short then. I meant this is a case like foxes where they are still canidae but you don't hear it in the name.

I like ADW because you can see it all listed out by familes like that
