Faux Pas is getting very interesting this month:

Okay, fisrt off, I knew it!Very Happy Dusk DOES have a concience; she just tends to ignore it most of the time (big surprise Rolling Eyes ). I'm wondering, though, why she is being so open and honest with Stu - this is not the Dusk we're used to seeing, is it? At any rate, I am beginning to get the sense that she is definitly in over her head with this scheme. there are too may thinks for her to control all at once. She can't possibly 'play' an entire barn and hope to come out on top. This is her weakness: She lets her ego get the better of her, and ends up overestimating her abilities and control over the situation.

Now Stu on the other hand, I'm continually in awe of. I just can't wrap my head around what he's doing. He let Dusk into the barn, full well knowing of her intentions; he doesn't say it, but Stu HAS to have known all this time - I'm sure of it. I mean, even Cindy's concerns couldn't have fallen on deaf ears; Stu is too smart to ignore a warning like that (prey species, remember?). He not only let her visit the barn, but he trusted her with a promise not to harm his children, a move which could have been disasterous (and amazingly enough in it's own right, Dusk actually kept this promise). Stu is, even now, quite literally one big chomp away from becoming fox chow if Dusk so desired. And yet here he is, as calm as a buddha. Neutral And Dusk is so open and honest with Stu concerning her thoughts, you would almost think thier friends or something. Or they are friends, but why? Seeing what she's done to Myrtle, the cats, and Arthur and Brisbane, how could one still trust Dusk? I know I wouldn't...

I'm not even quite sure what all is befuddling me, but something here just doesn't make any sense! Stu certainly doesn't seem the type to take such a huge risk, yet any way you look at it, that's exactly what he seems to have done. And yet, mind-blowingly, it all seems to be working out. I'm sensing some kind of profound philosophy behind all this that I want to find, and I'm dying to know just what Stu is thinking.

If anyone following the strip has any thoughts on this, philosophical or otherwise, I'd love to hear it. If I seem to be digging into the strip here, it's because I'm interested in figuring out the philosophy, the wisdom behind this.

Warp six? Ha ha! Laughing Hello? Earth to Randy - you're a few lightyears over the edge! Rolling Eyes

Eddie!Twisted Evil I don't know how, but I just know she's behind this somehow.

That is some of the weirdest sleepwalking I ever saw. Oh well, so Eddie isn't behind this one after all...or is she? Twisted Evil Anyone wonder how a sleepwalking Randy got his paws on the Tranq-gun? Something that dangerous surely would not have been left out in the open, would it? Remember, the bunny-lady had it last. Wink

At least Dusk is finally on her way back home. Though she's still taking every chance to mess with Cindy's mind along the way. Mabye now the whole crew can get some much needed R&R, hmm?

As for my rant about Stu up abov, I still don't quite get it, but I'm sure he had his reasons for doind what he did. I'm still quite impressed by his courage and willingness to befriend one who had little compunction against turning him into a snack if she wanted. Actually, he did that with Cindy too when she first arrived. And come to think of it, he's no doubt had many litters by Eddie; can you imagine all the mood swings he had to survive to get this far? I know I can't help but respect such a father like Stu. Smile

Ouch! Poor Cindy. Dusk sure knows how to leave a mark! Sad

But while she may seem to make a legit point, Dusk can't seriously believe all that she's said about Randy; if he is, by her own admission, such a poor choice for a mate, she wouldn't be so focused on him herself!

As an aside, I'm thinking that GMSA's current situation with the animals running thier own show so to speak, cannot last forever. Sooner or later the humane society will find out what is going on, or the human property owners will notice something is up. someone is going to have a fit when they find an abandoned barn overrun with rabbits and cats and all sorts of other animals.

And regardless of when that happens, I think something else may just be going on behind the scenes regarding Mr.Hannover (the previous owner of GMSA, who was the animals' trainer and all, see week 1, strip 6). The way he just up and sold the property all of a sudden does not seem characteristic of a Studio Animal trainer, IMHO; from what I've seen and read about the career, you do get really attached to your animals, and they become like family to you. I find it extremely strange then, that Mr.Hannover just sold the whole property and dissapeared. Don't you?

Eh, Stu is up to something again, and I bet I know what. He's going to work on consoling Cindy, while Randy will wake up later and be compelled to search for his lost vixen, perhaps in the process realizing how much he really cares for her. This could get interesting, especially with Dusk waiting out there for her chance to make a move.

Did Stu have this all in mind from the beginning, do you think?

Back amongst quiet, serene, beautiful nature, Cindy has time to reflect. But is it a little too quiet? Neutral

Ah, after all the chaos of Dusk's visit and all that comes with it, I'll be the first to say it's that things seem calm once more. A gorgeous scene here as Cindy reflects on her life and Randy and all; she deserves a long break after all she's been through.

A good note for writers here, I love how the authors balance up an extremely tense plot segment with a nice calm rest period afterwards. Unless your writing a book where you intend to keep the reader on edge the entire way, of course. But in a long, continuous plot, such as a webcomic like this, a well-timed break from the action now and then is always welcome. I as a reader am thinking, "finally, I can relax, no danger, nothing is going to happen, at least not right away. time for a breather." Now of course there's always the possibility that something could happen, but just like you'd be annoyed to be woken up in the middle of a good nap, if this calm relaxation period is suddenly interrupted, there had better be a darn good reason for it!

My one other observation of this scene? Wow, what a pretty vixen. Smile

Hee hee! "Silly-silly foxy, you need male foxy!" Cutting straight to the chase, eh?

Y'know, I like this little birdie. Very Happy The other resident bird-brains are mostly just annoying, but this cheery little bluebird is just too cute. In the words of Bugs Bunny, "Say, this promises to be fun!" Razz
