Ive been a furry for six years now. I love the fandom, the people ive met are wonderful, theres always those who are complete asses but generally everyone ive met has been wonderful. I love the art, fursuiting (one of my favorite things), and the affection. I love how everyone loves to give hugs, and show that they care about each other.

thats me in my fursuit. I got mine for a cheap price, $628, just before the maker raised the price to $1200. If you want a good suit from a good maker, you will be spending around $1,000 - 3,000, depends on the detail of the suit.

I've been a furry officially (although only at heart right now) since new years '08, but I'm pretty sure I go a bit farther back than that....

...The truth is...when I first learned of this furry thing (that was when I first came here to Canidae Central), I was more than a little leery of the idea. I mean, it was an interesting idea, just....not one I wanted to become a part of....

you see...I was labeled a special needs kid when I was little, to be more precise, I was labled ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I went to special classes and was homeschooled through my Elementary school years, I had so much energy, leading to trouble paying attention sometimes, had to take various medications, and I had some major anger management problems to boot. My point here is, from the very beginning of things I was different from other kids my age, whether I liked it or not.

Since then, I've come a long way; I deal with my anger very well now, I no longer need the medication (actually, I realized that I never needed it in the first place), I still have the extra energy boost that is the Hyperactivity, but I've learnt to make it a strength instead of a weakness, and I pay attention much better now. I'm 19 now, 20 in three months, and you could take a look at me and never guess that I was a special needs student in high-school.

For these years I just really wanted to be a normal, good kid, to not have everyone around me think I'm weird and different, you know, to blend in. Easier said than done Neutral. I guess the fact is, I didn't really want to be a furry when I first heard of it, even though the idea sounded interesting, more or less because I thought it would make me weirder than I already am. Yeah...as if THAT were even possible.Rolling Eyes

I guess come '08, I decided not to fight it any more; being 'weird' doesn't seem like as big an issue to me anymore, now I'd rather just be me, even if I am a bit different. I'm happy now to admit that I'm furry, and to say thay I now understand just what 'furry' really means.

But I've yet to tell anyone in my real life that I'm furry, mostly out of fear that they wouldn't understand, and then they'd treat me differently; you know, like as if I were 'gay' or something like that (interstingly, I also understand the concept of 'gay' a bit better now as well, just because there is a certain minute simmilarity between furry and gay when I think about it enough). I just want to be thought of and treated like a normal person, you know? ....Is that too much to ask, do you think?

That's where I'm really stuck right now, I guess...thanks for listening to me ramble on like I have...

wow, home schooled cuz of ADHD? that musta sucked,i got ADHD and i wasint home schooled,i find that strange, you know being different is a good thing, everyone is wierd in there own way, like me, im obsessed with video games and even my parents think thats wierd lol. dont try and blend in,its better to stand out, trust me I did that its not what you think, you gain the wrong kind of "friends" and you kinda lose who you are, kinda why i gone from the chatty little kid to silent little kid when i was younger (and i am still mostly silent after 12 years). and i understand how you wont tell anyone of being a furry,I myself havent told anyone off this site, basicly for the same reason as you but I do plan to tell when Im ready and you should too (but if ya never do and dont worry i geuss its ok,but if you regret not saying anything i dont think stress would leave ya alone) but all-in-all it comes down to if you want to say something, cuz it takes guts to tell something personal,ya know?

honestly? I don't actually remember. I was homeschooled because I drove most of the teachers nuts, I think. Mom says I was kicked out of several preschools as well before they found one that could handle me. Neutral I must have been a real devil back then. Twisted Evil

I guess there are a lot of new furries on this site, and my own experiences within the furry community has had its ups and downs in which most aren't good since I was struggling with other things. I have several links to other furry sites if anyone is interested. Send me a private message for further information.

There is also a large furry presence on MySpace.com. Contact me for more information.

Hey, it's no big deal, really, but could we mabye remove that second picture up there and post a link instead? The way it's stretching the board is making it an awful pain to read this topic. Neutral
