A characteristic I developed recently is being the devil's advocate.

Anyway, here's a hyphothetical situation:

A fox is in the road, a car is coming and in order to save it you have to risk your own well-being. According to many responses, most here would do that. BUT, what if you have a well-paying job and if you were injured or killed, your income is either cut or all-together, gone. You'd be saving that one fox, but what if the money that you bring it could be donated to fox santuaries and in return, save many? Possibly even make your own sanctuary if you get enough money. I guess I'm asking, would you risk your life in an immediate situation, or make a sacrafice to potentially save many more?

well... i would probably do something to try and help the fox(like get the car to stop or swerve or something) but you brought up a good point about the sancuarys... i wouldnt hurt myself but i would try to help and if not then all the more reason to donate to the sancuarys.

Interesting twist. But there are other ways to save an animal in the middle of a road rather than jumping infront of oncoming traffic. You could scare the animal away...

Jump in a roiling river to save a drowning fox.

I never thought about jumping in a rapid river, but then again I taught myself how to swim so I'm not that great. I can stay afloat is about it.

But from what I understand is that foxes are great at swimming.
