What I posted:

AT the wolf sanctuary where I visit, [live, now] if any noise is heard out back, I am there armed and ready. The sanctuary is located in the High Desert and is surrounded by.... nothing. Drug addicts and people up to no good love this desert, so we always have to be on our toes. I have had military training for clearing houses, maintained a CCW permit for a year when I carried daily, and have the ability to manage most moderate threats to the wolves.

In case if you're wondering, when I leave the perimeter fence, that means I am at the mercy of whatever, or whomever is out there, it would be very easy for someone to get the drop on me and put a bullet or two in me. In essence, whether there is an actual threat or not, I am risking my life by trouncing through the desert, weapon in hand. (Booger hook off the boom switch)

Due to the nature of the sanctuary, given that people live in very close proximity to the wolves, I would be justified in a shoot-not just because the wolves are in danger, but because people are also vulnerable to errant projectiles as well. I would, and do, risk my life (However remote the threat) for wolves a minimum of once a month.

The biggest problem isn't taking a bullet for a wolf, it is getting up at all hours of the morning when some tweaker spracked out of his mind is romping behind the sanctuary (Gee, like last night!) on his quad. Or someone thinking they are sneaky driving down our road with their headlights off (Also-last night. It's too cold for this crap!). I can still hear you, sucker!

And I saw this thread at Wolf Web and thought it was a cool idea so I started it here as well. And also moved to the fox section too.

Well.. I don't really know how far I would go.. I honestly cannot say that I would take a bullet, even though sometimes I would say that I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don't really know...

But I would try my best to save a wolf from a trap if I ever saw one, regardless of if it tried to attack me. Even if it did choose to attack me, I'd help it with no other thoughts in my mind. I would also probably, like other people on here, stand between someone with a gun, preparing to shoot the wolf, and the wolf. These animals, and many others, do not deserve to be murdered.

I also honestly cannot say that I would push it out of the way if a car was gonna hit it or whatever, but maybe I would just do it without thinking... but if I ended up hesitating, I'd probably take too long to do anything.

It is easier to say things than actually do them; so Shoji's right, we all really don't know how far we will go unless we're put into that situation.

You never know what you would do in such situation. It depends on what kind of situation it is.
But if I'm really sure I could save a wolf by stepping in front of a gun, I'm afraid I would do that. Not just by thinking but more as a impulse.

The point that we never really knkow what we're going to do is a good one and has been brought up many times. But like you said, sometimes it could just be more as an impulse. Now with wolves off the edangered speices list, several dozen wolves have already been killed in the Westeren States. However, the issue remains more contravery than before, and many people are going to extreme lengths to save a wolf. The wolves may soon be under the protection of the Federal Goverment again soon.
Standing in front of a gun, or destroying a wolf-hunting camping site, it's still effective to be fighting on a different front. So I'm just reminding you all, that you can still do something even if you never meet a wolf hunter or come across their camp.
