When it comes to choosing a mate, what is the most important? Please give reason behind your choice.

Wow...on first thought, it should be an easy question, but on the other hand, it just isn't...

I'm gonna hafta give this a bit of thought; in the meantime, I've got a few valentines to send today. I'll be back a bit later.

I guess this question has some influence on how the person answer is. Most people would say, without hesitation, either answer. More being that personality is the most important, because it makes you look like a good person.

However, someone who really thinks about this question and thinks about terms in their own love life, they'd also think about that looks are just as important. How the person presents themselves, how well they care about themselves, how much effort they put into themselves every morning. Basically a self-esteem issue.

But on the other hand, you can have this "drop-dead gorgeous" person but they're the dumbest and most ego-centric person on the planet. Which gives them a pretty bad attitude and unwanted to be around. You can have smart people be fairly good looking too, but they still sometimes get cocky even if they don't mean to be.

I'm obviously going to extremes on both sides, but I still think that intelligence, or personality, is more important. Close but intelligence is still more important [in my opinion].

Hmm....that's about what I would say, too. But I'd like to add that just as important to me as finding the right mate, is making sure that I myself am ready to be a good mate to whomever I can find.

I want to be a kind, devoted mate, a gentleman who would treat my girl properly, with respect. I want to be ready when I find that special someone, to give it my all, be the best man I can be, and not let them down.

im not too strong with just looks, i think the most part is truth, trust, true love, so ill just choose the invisable choice : other lol and stick with the 3 T's

You bring up a good point, but I guess this kind of expresses "who can you love, trust, etc." I just stole this survey from another site, CNN I think and thought it'd be interesting to see other's opinions here.
