I always liked threads like these. But I'd be a wolf in a heartbeat. It'd be so cool!

Surprisingly enough, 'The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence' DOES have some applications. I wouldn't become a wolf, because, all in all, being a member of a dominant species has a crap-load of benefits. Namely, opposable thumbs. Specifically, the ability to write.

Things can change. hypothetically, I would be a wolf if I could be in a pack with Mishomi, LOL. I think a wolf's life is very difficult. I really can't say that I would want to be one.

Very true, most likely because the hardships in their own life are more than what it's worth accordingto those people.

Well, being a wolf is something I've thought about for a bit, and I've even had a dream to that effect...

I think I'd like to be a wolf...temporarily. As in, not permanently a wolf. I sometimes sit and look at my dog, and wonder just what it's like to want to wag your tail...but, being a human at the core, I could never bring myself to give up my humanity to be a wolf or any other animal...I mean, it would be fun to be a wolf for a bit, no doubt, but in the end, I'll inevitably miss being a human, there's no denying it.

Now instead, I think I'd like to have shapeshifting powers, so I could be a wolf when I want to be a wolf, and be a human when I so desire. Also, there are a whole handful of animals I'd like to be, not just wolves, so I'd want to shapeshift into whatever animal I want. Now THAT would be cool. Hypotheticly speaking, of course, I mean assuming that were even possible Razz ..

One more thought that crosses my mind is the notion that wolves live among humans, a la Wolf's Rain (My new favorite anime, btw). It's an enchanting notion, for sure. Being a wolf at heart, but giving yourself the apperance of a human; I'd love to be a wolf living like that...It'd be interesting, to say the least...

well, I think That's all I can think of at the moment, so I'll stop rambling for now...

Shapeshift is the ultimate supernatural ability that'd I like. Close, in second, would be something like angel wings. Razz The gift of flight Wink

Anyways, temporarily would be favored also over being pernamently shape-shifted.

And I love Wolf's Rain, a world like that would be awesome. They don't need to live anywhere and can go wherever they want without the financial stress. And they're extremely fast and excellent fighters, the Wolf's Rain's characters don't have to listen to anyone because they can either flee or fight and will probably suceed in either one. Paw Print

I had another thought on being a wolf...

....You know, in a way, I have been a wolf before, and continue to be one...I'm talking about RolePlaying as a wolf. My RP character is, in a lot of ways, me as a wolf; whatever I'd do in a situaton, he'd do as well, and so on... RPing is a way for me to be a wolf, even if only in fantasy...It's sorta like having another life, know what I mean? I think that is the real reason I got into RPing....

That is true, but actually going through those hardships are a lot different that roleplaying about 'em. Wink But in a way, roleplaying is kind of like really being a wolf. Smile

Mmh, would I want to be a Wolf?
I'm not sure, what's so 'cool' to be a Wolf? As far as I know about Wolves, they're always hungry, because they only eat once in a while.
But living/running around in the wild with Wolves does make my heartbeat go faster.

But what about being a human? Is THAT a good thing? What are the pro's and cons' about being a human?
Because we're used to be a human, we tend to forget those cons, just like always being hungry is a way to life for Wolves.

If you put those pro's and cons' of both Wolves en humans together...
I think I would rather be a Wolf than a human.

A lot of questions with even more answers, but I assume that all those are rehtorical.

What are some of the pros and cons that helped you make your decision?

Mmm..I remember this thread. since last time I answered this question, I have had a lot more thought on this, so here goes.

It's a tough choice...I often wonder what it would be like to be canine, how much different the world would be experienced through a super-powerful sense of smell. But as a human...I can do things I could never do as a wolf. Like typing this post on an internet forum.

But even if I wanted to, I could never really be a true wolf. Because I am human, I have the gift of true inteligence, but a wolf, though smart, lives by instinct first, doesn't have the same freedom of thought as I do.

I don't know if anyone here ever thought of it this way, but becoming a wolf (or any other animal for that matter), would mean giving up a lot more than just your body.

Allow me to elaborate for a sec on what I see as the chief difference between man and beast.

When I am scolded by my parents, I apologise for what I did, because I thought about it, and decided to to it. A dog or a wolf would submit when scolded by it's leader, but not because it decided to do apologize, but because that is what it's instinct tells it to do. It has no concious choice in the matter.

I choose to apologise, but if I didn't wan't to, I wouldn't. In my mind, I have options, I think about what I wan't to do, about what is right and what is wrong, and I know the difference between good and evil, and I can choose one or the other. In the wolf's mind, there is no other option. There is no right or wrong, no good or evil. There is only instincts for survival.

THAT is what makes us humans different from wolves, and from other animals. And, I guess that is another discussion for another thread...

I roleplay as a wolf now and again. And I enjoy it. But I know that my character, the wolf I play, is really just my human mind in the imaginary body of a wolf. My human thoughts, my emotions, my sense of right and wrong, they all show through in my thoughts and decisions. My actions are based on them, not just on instinct. I cannot, and will never be able to perfectly mimic a real wolf in RP. Because I am human. And I like it that way.

I'd love to experience the world through lupine senses and instinct. Given the opportunity to try out a lupine body for a while? I'd jump at it for sure. But give up my inteligent human mind? I couldn't do that. Even if in means never being a true wolf. It may sound weird, but I really do like being human. Neutral
