“So your leading me back, eh?” Dan continues to follow Tyden. Writing as he walked, he made sure that he knew the area well enough, tomorrow he would go back to the tracks and see where they led. For now though he wanted to be sure the she-fox was fine too.

When they got to the den the other foxes wore nowhere to be found. “I wonder where those two have gone." Dan starts to walk back to his tent. At the edge of the trees Dan sees the zipper pushed open, “I’m glad I put every thing away.”
Unzipping the tent more, Dan steps in. “I knew it” he’s standing there looking at Seth. “I just knew it.” now sitting down beside Seth he pets him. “You always did like my pillow.” Dan didn’t know for sure where Ely was. He thought if that dog-fox is ok then the she-fox should be as well. The two of them would be fine.

He picked up his newly drawn map, and started to reference it to the road maps. He then took a note pad and started writing.

Tyden followed the human into the tent and sniffed Ely out who was hiding, he went over to her and lied down. Ely however got back up now feeling safe again that Tyden was back so she went back outside but Tyden stayed inside for a bit; he wanted to check for somethings. Tyden sniffed the human equipment, he found no guns and no knives. No traces of guns could be found, though it was harder to tell if there were any knives since they smelt of metal and there was a lot of metal inside the tent.

Then Tyden went up to the human and checked to see if he had weapons on him. Most humans had their guns strapped around them or in their hands so it was obvious that he didn't have any guns but he also seen guns around human's waists but he didn't seen any there too so he didn't bother giving that a good check. Though Tyden did sniff around the human's ankles since sometimes a human strapped a knife there.

With the points on the map marked Dan looks down at Tyden. The dog-fox was sniffing at his ankles “your still not sure about me are you?” Dan turns his head to see Seth wake up and yawn. Seth then got up and putting his paws on Dan’s chest starts to lick his face.

“Hay, you I hope you don’t miss me too much, because in two days the train will be back again.”

Seth understood some of what Dan said but not quite everything. He didn’t quite get the part that Dan would be leaving he just thought that the train would drop off some stuff. Seth really didn’t ever want to see his friend leave, so maybe he just under stood it the way that he wanted to.

Dan finishes his work and begins reading a National Geographic.

Tyden went back out and saw Ely near the den, he went over to her. Ely was thirsty and Tyden was too. So they both walked towards the stream for a drink. With still fresh from the tuna, Tyden didn't need to dig from his caches. They both drank from the stream and lied down there; days were usually slow when Tyden was injured. They really couldn't go to other parts of the territory; Tyden still wanted to know more about Dan if he was going to be visiting regulary but he stayed with Ely for a while.

When the evening came, Dan decided to make some supper. He took out some hotdogs and started cooking them up along with some Mac & cheese. The water boiled and he put in the noodles. The smell of the hotdogs made its way to Seth’s nose.
With his eyes wide Seth sits up, and looks over to where Dan is cooking. Jumping off the cot, he sits and waits for Dan to notice him. Dan whistled as he cooked. Seth sat patently hoping that Dan would give him a hotdog. Turning around Dan sees Seth on the ground, “so your up, eh?” He bends down and pets Seth on the head. He stands up and sniffs the hotdogs. “I know what woke you up.” He laughs.

When supper was cooked he finally gave in, “here Seth. Just you be good. Ok?”
Seth barks as he gets his hotdog. “I wonder were those other two are,” says Dan looking at the last two hotdogs. Eating his macaroni, cheese and hotdogs; he starts to think about how he will make sure that no hunters come into the area when he is gone.

Tyden and Ely both came back from the stream and Ely when into the den to rest but Tyden stayed out and went back to the tent and see if there's way to enter. He pushed through the entrance to see the human eating again with Seth next to him. The tent smelt of cooked food though Tyden ignored it and stared at the human while he tried to come up with a good way to think of him. He seemed nice but Tyden still really didn't know why he was here mapping out his territory.

Pain went through Tyden's chest which caused him to be short of breath again. He wondered how Ely was doing with her pain. Tyden went back out again and got Ely who followed him inside the tent and they both jumped on the humans bed and lied down. Though Tyden was still cautious about the human, he relaxed and started to fall asleep. Ely however found interest in the food.

When the other two foxes came into the tent, Dan looked at them. He laughed at the fact that he had just been talking about those two and then they where. He then spoke, “money should be falling from the sky.” He smiled and finished eating.
Seth jumped up onto the bed.
“How are you feeling Tyden?” Seth noticed Tyden was short of breath.

As Seth was talking to Tyden, Dan gave Ely one of the hotdogs left over.
“Seth liked them. So you will probably too.”
When Dan was finished his supper he walked over to the bed to see how Tyden was doing. Looking him over without touching him Dan takes note how he is breathing. “You will be fine” Dan says quietly. He turns to the she-fox and puts his hand down for her to sniff it.

Dan thinks to himself, if I only could be a fox. Then I could tell these guys that not all humans are bad. But at the same time I know that would be wrong of me to wish. Cause then there would be one less person looking out for them. Dan smiled as he thought.

It was getting late and Dan was tired. Now with the task of moving the dog-fox off his bed, he shook his head. “Well buddy,” he looks down at Seth. “I got to go to bed” and looking at the other two he said. “Now both of you going to let me sleep?” Dan moves to the one side of the bed and sits down beside Tyden. Seth jumps up on his lap and starts rubbing Dan’s chest. “What am I going to do with you guys?” Dan shakes his head.

Ely lied down on the floor after eating the hotdog; Tyden ignored it though he didn't like her eating food from a human but he tried to trust him.

Tyden looked at the human as he looked over him, he wasn't sure why but at least he wasn't touched. Then the human sat next to him, he ignored it even when Seth jumped up on the human. Tyden didn't move, he stayed on the human's bed, comfortable there.

After another thirty seconds or so, Tyden realized that the human wanted the whole bed to himself. Tyden jumped down but stayed inside the tent, he went over to the human's feet and lied down next to him, trying hard to trust him. Even though he looked relaxed, Tyden cocentrated on his senses just in case the human took an advantage of his trust. Tyden still didn't trust humans all that well.

When Tyden got off the bed and laid down by Dan’s feet, Dan put Seth down and got into bed. Before he went to sleep he said a quite prayer asking for guidance to help his new friends. Slowly Dan falls asleep. With Dan a sleep Seth slowly gets up onto the cot and lies on Dan’s feet. Seth and Dan finally dreaming, outside the tent there was a chirping sound. The grasshopper didn’t know where everyone was. Looking around Chirpy hops inside the tent. “Chirp?”
“ChiiiirrrrrrP”
“Chirp, chirp, chirp?”
Seth opened his eyes, and looked over at the opening. With a low voice he says “your going to wake everyone up.”
“Chirp?”
“Just come in and go to sleep.”
Dan starts to stir, “just lie down over there” Seth points his nose to some boxes.
Soon Chirpy and Seth are back to sleep. Then it was Dan that needed to get up. I knew I shouldn’t of drank so close to bed. Putting his feet down on the floor slowly feeling around so not to step on anyone he walks outside.

Dan came back in while Tyden watched him; he went back to his bed and lied down. Tyden looked at Ely who was asleep now then Seth then back at Dan. For some reason, Tyden go up and jumped onto Dan's bed and lied down next to him. He closed his eyes and started to drift alseep.

In the morning Dan opens his eyes, he realizes that he has something on his legs and something beside him. Dan wasn’t sure how to get out of this. If it had been only Seth then he might just move him. A plan now formed in his mind. He would try to get off the cot from the other side hoping he wouldn’t make it flip over. With much trouble he succeeds with out waking the two foxes. On his way around the cot, he looks over at his stove. “I’m going a need some coffee” he mumbles.

As his left foot comes down he feels fur underneath quickly he moves his foot. But it wasn’t fast enough, as he falls he dodges the she-fox and hits his head on a crate. Blood pours from the gash on his head.

Seth’s eye opened the second that Dan got up. He had seen the whole thing. Jumping of the bed he starts to lick Dan’s face.

Getting off the ground Dan wipes his face with some disinfectant. When Dan finishes putting a Band-Aid on his forehead, he sits on his stool.

Jumping onto the crate beside Dan, Chirpy looks up at him.
“Chirp??” the grasshopper asks if he is ok.

Dan looks at the grasshopper, “well, a grasshopper too?” he shakes his head. “I’m going to need a bigger tent,” he laughs.
With his coffee in him he begins getting prepared for the day.

Ely was frightened when she was almost stepped on. She went and hid in a corner but soon realized that the human has hurt himself.

Tyden was awakened by the incident but stayed up on the bed for a while. He watched the human go around the tent until Tyden finally got bored so he got up and walked outside; he was hungry. He went over to his caches and dug up some rabbit meat and ate it.

Ely, however, stayed inside the tent and looked at the human for some food.

Dan gets dressed and puts his hiking shoes on. Gets some food ready for his hike. Putting binoculars, paper and pencil into his pack, he makes sure he didn’t miss anything. With everything put away, he looks at Seth. “Its time to start the day, time to get going.” Dan walks out the tent. He wanted to make sure the foxes didn’t rely on him too much for food. That was why he didn’t make breakfast.

Seth looks at him as he leaves thinking he forgot to have breakfast. He jumped of the bed and walked out to see where Dan went. Seeing Dan walking towards the tracks, Seth follows him. What is he walking to now?
Walking along the tracks Dan is walking in paces. Seth walked beside him just enjoying his company.

For the rest of the day Dan and Seth walked along the tracks. When a train did come be Dan would always make sure that Seth had stayed back. They ate lunch together Seth brought Dan some apples from a near by apple tree. Dan had walked about 10 km and was getting tired, but to Seth that was nothing. Dan stopped looked at his map and at the other map he had, then looked though his binoculars. Down a ways there was the bridge for the train. Dan marked the bridge on his map. The two of them continued until it was about 4 o’ clock. That was when Dan decided that he was done looking over the area.

“Well buddy, I think I have every thing that I need.” He turns around then looks down at Seth, “Its time to go back.”
As Seth and him walk he thinks to himself, I wonder what the other two did today.

Tyden and Ely both have noticed by now that the days have been growing shorter; the snow would be soon to come. They really didn't need to hunt for the snows since they would still be hunting then but it would be best just to eat the food that won't be there during the snow.

Near the apple tree is where Tyden and Ely both have been for the majority of the day, they both ate good apples and cahced some of those that have fallen. They rested and let themselves heal but it was not long until the human came back with Seth and the sun was sinking.

After getting back Dan went into the tent and lay down, he was tired after walking all day. The sun was going down after all.
Seth went to see where the other two where. He jumped over to see the two lying down under the apple tree. Seth smiles, “hey guys what did you do today?” the swift fox had a great day walking and listening to his friend Dan.

Inside the tent, Dan was getting his stuff ready to leave. Tomorrow the train would be here and he needed to be sure he had everything. All the boxes were strapped to the ATV and the last thing he needed to do was to take the tent down. The tent looked empty, except for his cot and a few last things.
