I watched this anime a lot on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim." They don't have any in their time slots anymore. I purchased the complete DVD set in June I liked it so much. The ending I got to say, it's depressing..
I'll try to put Wolf's Rain in a nutshell for ya...
Wolves have been extinct for over 200 years, yet there have been sightings in the cities of "oversized dogs." The forests and mountains are disappearing and legends about wolves and moonflowers arise; there's a forbidden book called "The Book of the Moon" which depicts wolves being led to paradise by moonflower. Four wolves have crossed paths following the scent of moonflower. You'll later meet the various wolves who've disguised themselves as people in order to survive in the towns. Except one, Kiba. Wolf's blood is highly prized. The smell awakens a flower maiden that is being studied in a lab; Cheza.
Cheza is the key to opening Paradise and the humans want her to unlock it. Lord Darcia wants to take Cheza, whom his people had made and open Paradise for himself. Darcia kidnaps Cheza and takes her away.
Kiba comes to town in wolf form. He thinks others have thrown away their pride as wolves until he has a one-on-one with Hige. Who tells him what good is pride if you're dead. Later they run into Tsume and Toboe. They form a pack and take a journey to find Cheza. They realize she's no longer in town since the flower scent has died away. The pack meets many hardships.
It's a very hard story to explain. My boyfriend saw this with me and he still doesn't get it.
