Yeah, I guess Jackals and dogs are the closest related canids. Wolves and dogs are somewhat close. Well, they can breed so they are similar in some ways.

Grey wolves and dogs are the most closely related - in fact dogs are directly descended from grey wolves and are almost identical, genetically. Jackals are not particularly closely related to dogs. Confusing, I know.

Great pictures; they do have deer-like characterisitics in their fur. Jackals are cool.
