I didn't say that I would necessarily succeed in keeping people awake but thankyou, that was a nice thing to say.

It's a guide to watching wildlife in the Rockies. I won't start a thread about it, though, as it's got my real name on it for obvious reasons and I'd rather keep my "real" self separate from my fox blog. _________________ Visit my

Cool, you're from Norway? I went there about six years ago. Went ice-hiking on that huge glacier (I forget its very long name!) but certainly didn't see any wolves. Didn't see much wildlife at all, come to that. But I loved Norway's culture and Oslo is one of the best cities in the world
The best place to see wolves is Yellowstone National Park, in the Lamar Valley at dawn (remember - watch from afar - there's been some tragic accidents there due to people interfering; on one occasion, thanks to tourists, a pup got separated from its family and ended up being killed by another pack )
I've never seen a wolf in Europe. However, Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | Also, Wildlife Worldwide offer a ridiculously expensive trip to see wolves in Sweden. _________________ Visit my

Warning - getting to Yellowstone can be a nightmare. I had to fly from England to Minnesota, Minnesota to Seattle, Seattle to Bozeman, and then drive for two hours to reach even the edge of the park. The journey was amongst the most exhausting I've ever had (and that's coming from someone who once spent four days on Greyhounds travelling from Montreal - Jasper )
Salt Lake City isn't close either. The rewards of getting there are certainly worth it, but be sure to allow a *lot* of time for travel. You want a least a week in the park to compensate. People who whizz through Yellowstone in half a day may as well not go there at all, IMHO. It is a huge place and every corner is different.
For the best chance to see wolves and bears, I'd recommend getting yourself a powerful spotting scope (I have a Pentax PF 80ED with up to 60x zoom). Or at least, good binoculars. I have 10 x 50, and it was rather painful to see people desperately trying to watch wildlife with equipment with the half those specs! A lot of the time the wildlife will be a long way off, and it's not ethical to intrude too close on foot anyway...(and rangers take a dim view of people who taunt animals into goring them). _________________ Visit my
