I am 15 years old and I have loved wolves since as long as I can remember.
I believe that they are beautiful amazing that the creatures world would be nothing without.
I am a member of clubs to try to save wolves such as the defenders of wild life.
The wolves must be saved

Hi there. Welcome to Canidae Central.
I don't quite remember when I started to like wolves so much but I took an interest in them ever since I learned that stories like Little Red Riding Hood are such big lies. That was back in the fifth grades when I read a educational book on wolves.
Anyways, welcome again. _________________

Hey there, Michella, welcome to Canidae Central! I am a member of WolfWeb too, but I've shifted away from hanging out there more than once in a while, mostly because I dont have the time with all the other forums I'm on, and I dont find any conversations there that are interesting to me anymore..

Well there is no reason to hate the story of little red riding hood, if you ask me. I know the wolf gets shot in the end, but it's just a story. I love wolves, and shudder at the thought of one getting shot, but I wouldnt hesitate to read "Litttle Red Riding Hood" to a group of little kids. And after I finish the story, I'd teach the kids a little bit about real wolves, and make it a learning opportunity.
Wanna know something? Ever since I was a little kid, one of my favourite games to play in gym class or at summer camp has been, and still is, "What time is it, Mister Wolf?"
Everyone lines up in a row at one end of the gym or field, and one person, who is it, goes and stands at the other end with his back turned to everyone, and that person is the wolf.
Everyone calls to the wolf and asks "What time is it, mister wolf?", and if the wolf says it's three o'clock, then everyone takes three steps forward, and so on. (the steps can be any size the kids feel like). If anyone gets past the wolf, they win, and can be the wolf in the next game. But if the wolf says its dinner time, than he turns around and everyone has to get back to the line they started at before the wolf catches and eats them, at which point they are wolves too and can help catch people next time dinner time comes around (Or if you want they can just be 'out' until next game. The remaining people who didn't get eaten, get to start over again from the starting line, and ask "What time is it Mister Wolf?"
Does anyone remember this game? I loved this game when I was a little kid. I loved being the wolf and running after everyone at dinner time; this was my very favourite game back then, even before I became really interested in wolves. And it's still my favourite field game to this day!
Just now, I came back from helping out at a summer camp, and I played this game with all the little kids, and we all had such a good time, with everyone laughing and running whenever the wolf called "Dinner Time!!!". I know, I know, I guess it teaches kids to be afraid of wolves or something, but I dont care, 'cause it is still an awesomely fun game to play, and it keeps them occupied and makes for great photo-ops. (My job this week was taking pictures of the goings on at camp, but in between that, I find plenty of time to just play around with the little kids. I love them, they all call me "Camera Guy" because I always have a camera around my neck. )
I didnt actually tell tham about real wolves afterwards, although I would have loved too, just 'cause I wasn't really prepared at the time, and the kids were off like rockets to go play somewhere else before I would have been able to say anything.
Anyhow, Michelle,my point is, dont get mad at all these old games and stories because they make a wolf the bad guy. That's just how the story goes, and besides I doubt you could find another animal to replace the wolf, that would do a better job; the wolf just seems to do the job perfectly. The three little pigs and the big bad wolf, Little red riding hood and the big bad wolf, all these are stories I loved as a kid, and still do, because they are just so much fun to tell to the little kids.
I hope you dont still feel the same way about Little Red Riding Hood as you did back then, Michelle. Anyhow, Its good to know another wolflover here, I've already seen some of your posts, so it seems you've settled in. If you have any questions about wolves or anything else, dont hesitate to ask me or anyone else here, okay?
EDIT: Aaannd, I've just realised I've been calling you Michelle, instead of Michela, like I should be, this whole time. I sincerely apoplogise for that and I promise I'll get it right in the future, ok? _________________ Well the sun will rise in the east
