I'm too tired to deal with all this. CAL and I never really saw eye-to-eye before and still don't. However, foxes being in capativity for profit, I don't like at all. Now that you explained your situation, CAL, it's a bit better than what I was assuming ealier when I was going through hard times.
Comparing foxes in capativity to foxes in the wild is another whole issue which I'm too tired to type and argue those points right now.
Cloud has a good point that you can never be certain that someone is truly happy. Through my teenage typical depressed boo-hoo-me years, I was able to fool my entire family into thinking that I wasn't going through that "poor-me" phrase so no one can be sure. Sure, foxes really don't know the meaning of tricking people, but still the same point. Foxes are wild, they have a wild spirit and even though they might not know the life of the wild, they still hunger for something, something that they don't know what it is... And I have no good examples for that at the moment.
Oh, and, if someone wants to educate schools with live animals, then that's where sanctuaries usually come int... I guess you'd kind of classify as santuary if you take in injured animals (injured as in orphans, or broken limb, not cut or scratch), you all know what I mean. But sanctuary/pernamently-held foxes should not be bred, in other words, nueter or spay 'em.

hey, CAL, sounds like you've devoted pretty much your entire life to the animals. Sounds like a complete zoo over there, and I mean that in an entirely good way Wink . Educating young and old about animals, wild and otherwise, is a big step in ensuring the survival of all the species far into the future, as well as preventing animal cruelty. I am by no means against keeping animals in captivity, as long as said animal recieves all neccesary care to keep it happy and healthy.

Btw, TWF, how do you know foxes have no sense of deception? Havent you ever heard the "sly fox" stereotype? That had to come from somewhere, didn't it? You know, the ability to trick a potential predator would be a useful survival tool. Okay, so I'm going out on a limb here, I know the stereotype bit was all made up by humans, but still...

Ugh, that's a completely different subject; you know what I mean, if not, then oh well. I'm too tired for this, and this hacker on my computer is really getting on my nerves.

I would love to have a fox as a pet, but at the moment I got neither the time or money or space for any pet, beside that I would never want that any wild animal is caught or would support something that cruel like a fur farm.
prob. I'll never have a fox as a pet

Buying a fox.... yes, you can buy a fox, but buying a PET fox... no. Because the fox is a wild animal, not some pet, like a dog. I know what i'm talking, I had two foxes before with a year. I buyed they from a hunter. He chased almost every weekend some cub foxes, and sells his fur. I say to him, i can buy two foxes, just don't kill him. In the first days the cub foxes were very wild, and they don't eat. After a week, they eat, and become much more tamed, but cheerless. They were until a month at me, then I give him to a wildlife center. Because when they are cubs, they are just like a pet fox, they eat from your hand, don't want to bite (but of course you need some heavy gloves Smile), so it's just like a dream. But when they grow up, they are much more wild, and cheerless, because they don't like the captivity. And here in Hungary, wild animals taking at home is illegal. And now they are in a wildlife center, rescued from the dead (thanks for me), and I obtained some experience. So, you don't want a fox as pet, because they are wild animals, and never become to pet. They are forever cheerless and you don't want this, and don't want a fox seen like this.

Answer to a question: i don't know breeders, I mistaken this. They are just hunters, ho sells foxes for more money.

That's quite a story, and very admirable of you to buy those pet foxes from the hunter. Shame that he'd still make business in his disgusting trade.

It's good to hear that those two foxes that you saved are now in a wildlife center; much better for them. Your two foxes are very cute. Those gloves are really thick you could probably handle an eagle. Razz Thanks for sharing the photos with us.
