I feel sorry for them, but I'd like a bit more information...

The swift fox, I believe, lives in more open areas. I've read a bit about them, though I don't know much about every fox speices. Endagered, I don't believe so. Unlike wolves, foxes weren't hunted for sport and they're smaller, more stealthy and was able to survive so they rarely go endangered.

the swift fox ( I have 5 of them ) are endangered in canada and threatened in the US. they were once a canidate for the endangered speices in the US but the population went on a rise due to conservation and re-introduction and in 2001 they were removed to a threatened status. The population was on a rapid decline for several reasons the 2 main reasons stemed from cyotes 1.. the cyotes killed more swift fox naturaly than any other animal due to competition.. the 2nd is farmers were setting out traps and poison for the cyotes and the swift fox is so easily baited many were captured or poisoned by this. also 45 % of their natural habbitat has been lost due to building. they are now found in low numbers in Montana, Nebraska, and S dakota... there is a higher number of them in Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming.. and doing fairly well in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Hope this helps a little
